Before you begin

Important!

The WaveStar^® CIT is required to interface with the VLNC50/52/55 SONET/SDH Transport and VLNC2 SYSCTL circuit packs.

The Web-based GUI or Command Line Interface (CLI) messages are required to interface with the VLNC40/42/42B Ethernet Aggregator, VLNC60/61/62 Circuit Emulator, and VLNC64 Circuit Emulation Mini-Hub circuit packs.

Important!

TL1 commands or the Web GUI are required to interface with the VLNC42B Ethernet Aggregator circuit packs for T-MPLS provisioning.

The procedures in this chapter use the Web GUI with corresponding reference to the equivalent TLI commands. When using TLI commands, refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch (TSS-5) TL1 Command Guide for T-MPLS.

Prior to performing procedures in this chapter,

1. If required and not previously completed, install the generic and WaveStar^® CIT software on the PC. Refer to Procedure 14-1: Install software on the PC.

2. Connect the PC and establish the required session.

   • Procedure 14-2: Connect personal computer (PC) and establish WaveStar^® CIT session

   • Procedure 14-20: Connect personal computer (PC) and establish Command Line Interface (CLI) session to VLNC4x/VLNC6x

   • For a detailed description of the Web-based GUI used to interface with the VLNC40/42/42B, VLNC60/61/62, and VLNC64 circuit packs and general information about using the Web-based GUI, refer to Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch (TSS-5) CLI User Provisioning Guide.

Required equipment

All procedures in this chapter require that the following equipment is available:

• Personal Computer (PC) with WaveStar^® CIT software installed

• Wrist Strap
