Procedure 9-6: Create Tunnel segments and Tunnel AIDs

- Overview

Use this procedure to create point-to-point bidirectional PSN Tunnels and Tunnel segments.

There are two types of Tunnels, Terminated and Transit (Swap). For each Tunnel, there is either one TUSegment (in the case of Terminated) or two TUSegments (in the case of Transit/Swap) for the Tunnel. In a Label Edge Router (LER), the tunnel is terminated (no cross-connection needed explicitly), while in case of a Label Switched Router (LSR) it is switched (ENT-TMPLS-CRSTUSEG). The cross-connection operation or the termination indication (performed in TL1) creates the tunnel. The Tunnel is not created directly. Instead, the Terminated Tunnel is created by the system when the Terminated Tunnel Segment (TUSegment) is created. Also, creating Transit TUSegments does not create the Transit Tunnel. Only when two Transit TUSegments are cross connected, then a CRS TUSegment is created followed by Transit Tunnel creation. The TUSegment is not deleted by the user directly. The TUSegment is deleted when its Tunnel is deleted. The Tunnel and TUSegment AIDs are assigned by the system.
