Procedure 10-1: Configure Virtual Private Wire Service (VPWS)

- Overview

Use this procedure to create/modify/delete the VPWS Service between the Ethernet port and Pseudo Wire ID. It also allows the user to create/delete/modify the Classifier for the VPWS Service between the Ethernet port and Pseudo Wire ID.

- Before you begin

Obtain the work instructions for this procedure.

Step

1

Log in to the VLNC42B circuit pack being provisioned.

2

From the Navigation menu, select ETS Flow Services → VPWS → VPWS Configuration.

Result:

The VPWS Service Configuration screen appears.

3

Enter the required parameters, then click Submit to modify the existing VPWS service or create a new VPWS service.

ETS VPWS configuration parameters

Parameter

Value

Command

Service Selector

A drop-down list containing "Create" and all existing VPWS services in the system.

Service Label

This is a unique character string up to 30 ASCII characters. It is a required field. When "Create" is selected, it is an editable field. Service Label is allowed to be renamed.

Slot/Port

The Ethernet port. This is the UNI port. For Create, it is a drop-down list containing all Ethernet ports that are Admin enabled in the system. For a selected Service Label (modify/delete), it is a display-only field.

Pseudo Wire ID

The Pseudo Wire ID. For Create, it is a drop-down list containing all existing PW IDs, that have Status=ON (RTRV-TMPLS-PW: STATUS=ON) and do not already have another VPWS Service with another Ethernet port. For the selected Service Label (modify/delete), it is a display-only field.

Traffic Descriptor UNI-to- NNI

For "Create", this is a drop-down list containing all ETS TDs that are ACTIVE in the system. Refer to Procedure 14-8: ETS flow services traffic descriptor configuration.

The field can be modified. For "Modify" service, the new TD must have the same QoS as those of the old TD. In this case, the drop-down list contains only those TDs that have the same QoS as the old TD.

The sum of CIR values over all ETS Flows associated with a PW must not exceed the CIR of the PW. Also, the PIR value must not exceed the PIR value of the PW associated with the ETS Flow.

Policy Mode UNI-to-NNI

The Policy Mode for the Inflow. A drop-down list containing two values: Disable (value=2) and ColorBlind (value=1) For "Modify" service, this field can not be modified and is display-only.

Traffic Descriptor NNI-to- UNI

A drop-down list containing all ETS Null TDs in the system. Null TD is a Traffic Descriptor file which has its CIR, PIR, CBS, PBS are all set to 0. Refer to Procedure 14-8: ETS flow services traffic descriptor configuration.

CVLAN Pop UNI-to-NNI

Enables/Disables VLAN pop. This parameter applies to the UNI-to-NNI direction. For "Modify" service, this field cannot be modified and is display-only. Valid values: Enabled (value=1), Disabled (default, value=2). All VPWS services that have the same PW assigned must have the same CVLAN Pop value.

CVLAN Push NNI-to-UNI

Enables/Disables VLAN push. This parameter applies to NNI-to-UNI direction. For "Modify" service, this field cannot be modified and is display-only. Valid values: Enabled (value=1), Disabled (default, value=2). All VPWS services that have the same PW assigned must have the same CVLAN Push value.

CVLAN ID Pushed

The specified VLAN ID to be pushed. This parameter applies to NNI-to-UNI direction. For "Modify" service, this field cannot be modified and is display-only. This parameter is required if the value of the CVLAN Push is Enabled (see above). Valid values: an integer value in the range of 0 to 4095. All VPWS services that have the same PW assigned (and CVLAN Push enabled) must have the same Pushed CVLAN ID.

Classifier

Classifier UNI-to-NNI VLAN ID

VLAN Classifier. Valid values: integers in the range of 0 - 4094, "DontCare" (4097), or "Untagged" (4096). The default value is 4097. This is a required field. Note that the combination of Classifier VLAN, Pbits and Ethertype are unique in the Ethernet port.

Classifier UNI-to-NNI Pbits

Priority Bit Classifier. Valid values: integers in the range of 0 - 7, 8 (Untagged), 9 (DontCare). The default value is 9. This is a required field. Note that the combination of Classifier VLAN, Pbits and Ethertype are unique in the Ethernet port.

Classifier UNI-to-NNI Ethertype

Ethertype Classifier. Valid values: 0x0 (DontCare), 0x600 - 0xFFFF. The default value is 0x0. This is a required field. Note that the combination of Classifier VLAN, Pbits and Ethertype are unique in the Ethernet port.

Note: The Ethertype Classifier parameter will be discontinued in next release.
