This topic describes the steps to add, modify, or delete a search service.
A search services defines access to an LDAP server.
The administrators of the LDAP server and the location where the LDAP server is hosted, must ensure that the LDAP server can be reached by the Lucent CM server.
For example, IP addresses and the ports must be defined properly and firewalls must accept queries from the Lucent CM servers.
The search service parameters:
Parameter |
Description |
Search Service ID |
A unique identifier for the search service. |
Display Name |
The descriptive name that displays in the Lucent CM Explorer tree view. |
Server Name |
The FQDN of the LDAP server that is used to retrieve the authentication information. |
Port |
The port of the LDAP server used for communication. |
Search Base |
The base object used in the LDAP server for searches. |
Bind Name |
The account name to access the LDAP server. |
Bind Password |
The account password to access the LDAP server. |
DN Format |
The format used to store phone numbers in this LDAP. The format is expressed as a string where ‘x’ is substituted for any digit. For example (xxx)xxx-xxxx. |
Perform the following steps to add, modify, or delete search service:

At the Lucent CM Explorer tree view, navigate to the Search folder (Lucent CM System → Services → Search). Result: The Search Services tab displays, listing the available search services. | ||||||||

Configure the search service parameters. | ||||||||

Click Add or Update to save the search service. Result: The Search Services list is updated to reflect the changes. End of steps |
