This topic describes the steps to add, modify, or delete a Public Service Identifier Public User Identification (PSI PUID) service package.
The PSI PUID services are provided by FS 5000 call servers and are thus only available for Lucent CM users that are assigned to an FS 5000 call server.
PSIs are used for the following FS 5000 services:
DN extension service
Remote access service
The user can protect the services using a Personal Identification Number (PIN). The user defines a PIN in the user's service settings. The same PIN protects all the services.
The DN extension service allows a user to have a wireless device that acts as an extension to a party. The user can originate or receive calls on the wireless device. When using the DN extension service, calling services are provides by the FS 5000 and not by the MSC. The service is also known as Circuit Mobile Extensions.
Calls that originate from the wireless device do not use the number dialed by the user, but are set up by using the PSI PUID.
The user dials a called party number and originates the call as an “extension call”. Setting up an “extension call” ensures the call is set up using the DN extension PSI PUID instead of the called party number.
The call is routed to the FS 5000 that hosts the PSI PUID.
The FS 5000 maps the extension DN to the user's principal DN.
The user may need to provide a PIN to continue the call.
The FS 5000 directs the call to the FS 5000 that hosts the user's principal DN.
The FS 5000 that hosts the principal DN uses the called party number to complete the call. The FS 5000 handles the call and offers services to the caller as if the call originated directly from the principal DN. The FS 5000 sends the media streams to the wireless device.
Incoming calls for a user can alert the principal DN and any extension DNs. The Lucent CM user can configure which DNs alert. A caller dials the regular principal DN and is unaware of any extension DNs.
The remote access service allows a user to originate calls from anywhere as if the user was calling from the principal DN.
The stages for using the remote access service:
The user dials the PSI PUID for the remote access service.
The call is routed to the FS 5000 that hosts the remote access service.
The user enters the principal DN and a user PIN.
The call is routed to the FS 5000 that hosts the principal DN.
The FS 5000 prompts the user to dial a digits. This can be a called party number or a feature code.
The FS 5000 handles the digits as if the digits originated directly from the user's principal DN. The FS 5000 sets up a call to the called party or performs the required action for the feature code.
The PSI PUID service package parameters:
Parameter |
Description |
