Add, modify, or delete a PS Contact service

Purpose

This topic describes the steps to add, modify, or delete a PS Contact service. The PS Contact service allows Lucent CM users to synchronize their Personal Address Book with an address book that is stored on the Lucent Presence Solution server.

PS Contact service parameters

The PS Contact service parameters:

Parameter

Description

PS Contact Service ID

A unique identifier for the PS Contact service.

Primary Host

The FQDN of the primary Lucent Presence Solution server.

Primary Port

The SSL port number of the primary Lucent Presence Solution server.

Secondary Host 1

The FQDN of the secondary Lucent Presence Solution server.

Secondary Port 1

The SSL port number of the secondary Lucent Presence Solution server.

XCAP Root

The XCAP root is the root directory where XCAP resources are stored on the Lucent Presence Solution server.

To manipulate an XCAP resource, the data must be represented by an HTTP URI. XCAP defines a specific naming convention for constructing these URIs. An URI is constructed by concatenating the XCAP root with the remaining URI components.

Sync Poll Interval

The interval time between checks by the Lucent CM server for changes to a phone book of a user on the Lucent Presence Solution server.

If changes are detected, the changes are copied from the Lucent Presence Solution to the Lucent CM server.

Notes:

Not supported in this release.

Get connection status

To view the status of the XCAP connection between the Lucent CM server and the Lucent Presence Solution server, click Status.

Setting the Sync Poll Interval

If a user changes his address book on the Lucent Presence Solution server with another device then on the Lucent CM user client, changes may not be visible at the Lucent CM address book. The changes will only be updated when the Lucent CM checks the Lucent Presence Solution server, detects changes and updates the Lucent CM address book.

The higher the value for the Sync Poll Interval parameter, the longer it takes for the Lucent CM server to detect changes in the address book on the Lucent Presence Solution server.

Low values for the Sync Poll Interval parameter allows the Lucent CM server to detect changes earlier, but will increase the processor load on the Lucent CM server.

Off-line

The Lucent CM user does not have to be on-line for the Lucent CM server to synchronize with the Lucent Presence Solution server.

When the Lucent Presence Solution server is off-line, the Lucent CM user cannot make updates to the personal address book. Changes cannot be stored temporarily on the Lucent CM server and forwarded to the Lucent Presence Solution server later.

Before you begin

Ensure the following:

Add, modify, or delete a PS Contact service

Important!  Be careful when updating an existing PS Contact service. When you define a new PS Contact service or user list for the PS Contact service, the Lucent CM system will synchronize with this server and list, and will overwrite the existing data for the Lucent CM user on the Lucent CM server.
