Add, modify, or delete a Presence Service

Purpose

This topic describes the steps to add, modify, or delete a Presence service. The presence service allows Lucent CM users to view network presence of other users and allows the users to set their network presence.

The presence service is provided by the Lucent Presence Solution server.

Presence service parameters

The Presence service parameters:

Description

 

Presence Service ID

 

A unique identifier for the Presence service.

 

Primary Name

 

The name of the primary Lucent Presence Solution server.

 

Primary Host

 

The FQDN of the primary Lucent Presence Solution server.

 

Primary Port

 

The port number of the primary Lucent Presence Solution server.

 

Secondary Name

 

The name of the secondary Lucent Presence Solution server.

 

Secondary Host 1

 

The FQDN of the secondary Lucent Presence Solution server.

 

Secondary Port 1

 

The port number of the secondary Lucent Presence Solution server.

 

Subscribe Interval

 

The time the subscribe request is considered valid by the Lucent Presence Solution server.

When the interval expires the subscribe request is not valid anymore and the Lucent CM must re-subscribe.

When presence is expired, a user is seen by other users as Unavailable.

 

Publish Interval

 

The time the user's presence is considered valid by the Lucent Presence Solution server before it must be re-published.

When the interval expires the user's presence is not valid anymore and the Lucent CM must re-subscribe.

When presence is expired, a user is seen by other users as Unavailable.

Add, modify or delete a Presence Service

Important!  Be careful when updating an existing Presence service. When you define a new Presence service or user list for the Presence service, the Lucent CM system will synchronize with this server and list, and will overwrite the existing data for the Lucent CM user on the Lucent CM server.

Task StepsPerform the following steps to add, modify or delete a Presence Service:

At the Lucent CM Explorer tree view, navigate to the Presence folder (Lucent CM System → Services → Presence).

Result:  The Presence Service List displays, listing the available services.

Then ...

 

you want to add a Presence Service,

 

  1. Click Add

  2. Continue with Step 3.

 

you want to modify a Presence Service,

 

  1. Select the service

  2. Click Edit

  3. Continue with Step 3.

 

you want to delete a Presence Service,

 

  1. Select the service

  2. Click Delete

  3. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.

Configure the Presence Service parameters.

Click Add or Update to save the Presence Service.

Result:  The a Presence Service List is updated to reflect the changes.
