Use this procedure to install the following DS3/EC1 circuit packs:

• LNW16 12DS3/EC1

• LNW19/19B 48DS3/EC1

  The LNW19 is DA'd and is no longer available

• LNW111 DS3/3

If installing the DS1/DS3/16/3 circuit pack, refer to Procedure 4-6: Install DS1/DS3/16/3 circuit packs.

Important!

If the Main slots are equipped with LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48, LNW140 OC-3/DS1, or LNW141 OC-192 circuit packs, LNW111 DS3/3 circuit packs are not supported.

Important!

It is assumed that the DS3/EC1 cables have already been installed. Refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer Extend (DMXtend) Installation Manual, 365-372-327 for cabling information.

Equipage guidelines

The system does not support mixing standard density LNW16 12DS3/EC1 and high-density LNW19/19B 48DS3/EC1 circuit packs in the same Function/Growth group. The circuit packs in a Function/Growth group must be the same circuit pack type. For example, both circuit packs in a Function/Growth group must be standard density LNW16 12DS3/EC1 circuit packs, or both circuit packs must be high-density LNW19/19B 48DS3/EC1 circuit packs. If the circuit packs in a Function/Growth group are different circuit pack types, the system reports an unexpected CP type alarm and service may be impacted.

You must log in as a Privileged, General, Maintenance, or Reports Only user to complete this procedure.

Prior to beginning this procedure:

1. Refer to Required equipment and Before you begin in this chapter.

2. Refer to Electrostatic discharge in Chapter 1, Safety.

3. Ensure that DS3/EC1 circuit packs are available for installation.

4. If installing high-density LNW19/19B 48DS3/EC1 circuit packs, verify that the DS3 cables are installed to the J2D and J4D, or J8G and J10G connectors on the shelf backplane as required. Refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer Extend (DMXtend) Installation Manual, 365-372-327 for cabling information.
