Procedure 4-6: Install DS1/DS3/16/3 circuit packs
Overview
Use this procedure to install the LNW39 and LNW391 DS1/DS3/16/3 combination circuit pack(s).
Important!
The LNW39 and LNW391 circuit packs have common funtionality; however, they are not directly interchangeable. Therefore, the LNW39 and LNW391 circuit packs cannot occupy the same Function group together.
Important!
If the Main slots are equipped with LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48, LNW140 OC-3/DS1, or LNW141 OC-192 circuit packs, the DS1/DS3/16/3 combination circuit pack is not supported.
Before you begin
Prior to beginning this procedure:

Ensure that DS1/DS3/16/3 circuit pack(s) is available for installation.
Steps
Complete the following steps to install DS1/DS3/16/3 circuit pack(s).

Determine from office records or circuit order the length of the DS1 and DS3 cabling between the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend and the DSX-1/3 cross-connect points and any other circuit pack parameters to be set. | ||||||

Holding the circuit pack vertically, rotate the circuit pack 90 degrees to the left (counter-clockwise). The faceplate label with LNW39/LNW391 should be on your left, away from the fan unit. | ||||||

Open the faceplate latch and seat the circuit pack in slot A1/B1 by applying steady pressure to the faceplate and latch assembly. Result: The FAULT LED and ACTIVE LED lights. The FAULT LED begins flashing after about 20 seconds. (Firmware updates may take place that add additional wait time.) Select View → Refresh System View and the circuit pack appears in the WaveStar® CIT System View indicating successful installation. | ||||||

Secure the circuit pack in the shelf using the latch lever and thumbscrew. | ||||||

Is a second (protection) DS1/DS3/16/3 circuit pack required in Function group slot A2/B2?

From the System View window, click the Alarm List button to verify that no alarms, loopbacks, protection switch lockouts, or protection switches are present for the ports on the circuit packs just installed. Result: The NE Alarm List appears. No alarms should be present for the circuit pack(s) just installed. | ||||||
