Procedure 4-14: Install Gigabit Ethernet circuit packs

- Overview

Use this procedure to install the following circuit packs:

  • LNW63 GBE PL

  • LNW64 GBE PL

  • LNW67 1GbE-SX

  • LNW68 1GbE-LX

  • LNW70 100/1G FXS

  • LNW78 100/1G FSR

  • LNW87 FE/GBE PL

  • LNW170 100/1G FXS

Important!

If installing LNW64 GBE PL circuit packs, the Main slots must be equipped with Very Large Fabric LNW84 or LNW141 OLIU circuit packs. If the Main slots are not equipped with Very Large Fabric LNW84 or LNW141 OLIU circuit packs, the system reports a CP not allowed - eqpt alarm.

Equipage guidelines (Main slots not equipped with Very Large Fabric circuit packs)

If the Main slots are not equipped with Very Large Fabric LNW84 or LNW141 OLIU circuit packs circuit packs, the Gigabit Ethernet circuit packs are supported in slot 1 or slot 2 of Function/Growth group D and/or G. However, it is recommended that the Gigabit Ethernet circuit pack be installed in Function/Growth slot D1 and/or G1. A 177D apparatus blank or an LNW98 Detectable Blank circuit pack must be installed in the unequipped companion Function/Growth slot.

If the LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit pack in Function/Growth slot D1 and/or G1 is configured for equipment protection, then LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit packs can also be installed in slot D2 and/or G2.

Equipage guidelines (Main slots equipped with Very Large Fabric circuit packs)

If the Main slots are equipped with Very Large Fabric LNW84 or LNW141 OLIU circuit packs, the circuit packs in a Function/Growth group may be the same or different circuit pack type depending on the Slot Protection State.

All Gigabit Ethernet circuit packs except the LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit pack

For Gigabit Ethernet circuit packs, except the LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit pack, the Slot Protection State parameter is fixed Unprotected. If the Slot Protection State is Protected and a Gigabit Ethernet circuit pack is installed, the system reports an unexpected CP type alarm and service may be impacted.

LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit packs

For LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit packs, the Slot Protection State may be provisioned Unprotected or Protected.

If the Slot Protection State is Unprotected, the circuit packs within the Function/Growth group may be different circuit pack types. The default Slot Protection State is Unprotected when an LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit pack is installed in an unprovisioned Function/Growth group or in a Function/Growth group with an unprotected circuit pack.

If the Slot Protection State is Protected, the circuit packs in a Function/Growth group must both be the same circuit pack type.
