Use this procedure to provision Ethernet circuit pack/LAN ports/VCGs for service.
Important!
Ethernet circuit packs/ports are provisioned for the type of service being provided. This procedure shows you how to access the parameters being provisioned, not how the parameters should be provisioned. Refer to your work instructions for parameter values or refer to Chapter 11, Ethernet/Data network provisioning procedures for examples of Ethernet service provisioning.
Prior to performing this procedure:
Refer to Required equipment and Before you begin in this chapter.
Verify that the work instructions specify the circuit pack, LAN port, and/or VCG parameters/values to be provisioned.
Ensure that the circuit pack(s) is installed. If the circuit pack is not installed, refer to Procedure 4-13: Install 10/100 Ethernet circuit packs or Procedure 4-14: Install Gigabit Ethernet circuit packs.
If required, ensure appropriate pluggable transmission module(s) is installed. Refer to Procedure 4-16: Install pluggable transmission modules.
Complete the following steps to provision the Ethernet circuit pack/LAN ports/VCGs.
1 |
From the System View menu, click the Alarm List button to verify that no alarms are present for the ports on the circuit packs to be provisioned. Result: The NE Alarm List appears.
2 |
From the System View menu, select Configuration → Equipment. Result: The Configure Equipment window opens.
3 |
Find and click (highlight) the Ethernet circuit pack being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. Result: The circuit pack parameters appear.
4 |
Provision the circuit pack parameters as required, then click Apply if changes were made. If no changes were made, continue with Step 5. Result: A dialog box may appear asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes to apply changes. Reference: Procedure 11-10: Provision Ethernet circuit pack parameters
5 |
Click Close to exit or continue with Step 6 to provision LAN ports/VCGs.
6 |
Find the circuit pack with the LAN ports/VCGs being provisioned, then expand the equipment list by clicking on the plus (+) sign next to the circuit pack.
7 |
| ||||||
8 |
Click (highlight) the LAN port/VCG being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. Result: The LAN port/VCG parameters appear.
9 |
Select and provision the parameters, according to your work instructions. Reference:
10 |
If required, provision the VCG port control plane parameters. Reference: Procedure 9-11: Establish external network-to-network interface (E-NNI)
11 |
Click Apply to make provisioning changes. If no changes were made, continue with Step 12. Result: A dialog box may appear asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes to apply changes.
12 |
If required, repeat procedure from Step 8 through Step 11 to provision additional LAN ports/VCGs.
13 |
If required, repeat this procedure to provision other Ethernet circuit pack/LAN ports/VCGs. End of steps |
