mLDP tunnel support
In NG-MVPN, the access (customer) side uses PIM for multicast signaling between the CE and the PE, while the provider core can use Multicast LDP (mLDP) as the PMSI tunnel type.
Note:
For NG-MVPN services, mLDP (Multicast LDP) is the only supported PMSI provider tunnel type; SR Linux does not support other PMSI provider tunnel types.
SR Linux supports mLDP as a multicast transport for NG-MVPN under the following conditions:
- mLDP requires LDP for IPv4 to be enabled in the transport network-instance (
defaultnetwork-instance). LDP over IPv6 is not supported for mLDP operation. - Only Point-to-Multipoint (P2MP) Forwarding Equivalence Class (FEC) elements using opaque value type 1 are supported. Other FEC types, including MP2MP and advanced FEC encodings, are not supported.
- The P2MP Capability TLV is automatically advertised in LDP Initialization messages. This behavior is always enabled and cannot be configured or disabled.
-
The following mLDP node roles are supported over IPv4:
- Root node
- Transit Label Switching Router (LSR)
- Leaf node
- Bud node
