The LNW87 circuit pack is an 4-port, PTM-based Private Line Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet pack. The ports can be populated with either, 4 optical, 4 electrical PTMs, or a mix of electrical and optical PTMs. The port mode is provisionable on per port basis.
The LNW87 and some of the supported PTMs are approved for OSP deployments. You must install PTMs that are approved for industrial temperatures to use the LNW87 in OSP environments.
When Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX is equipped with non-VLF Main packs, LNW87 packs can only be placed in Slot 1 of any Function or Growth group in the shelf (A1–G1) and Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX supports a total capacity of 20 10/100BASE-T electrical ports and 20 100BASE-X optical ports if all available slots are equipped with LNW87 circuit packs. When the LNW87 circuit packs occupy only slot 1 of a Function Unit group, slot 2 must be populated with an apparatus blank. Additional ports can be added if the companion slot to the LNW87 is populated with a compatible front-access Ethernet pack, like an LNW170.
When Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX is equipped with VLF Main (LNW59, LNW82, or LNW504) packs, LNW87 packs can occupy Slot 1 and Slot 2 of any Function or Growth group (A–G) and the number or ports available doubles..
The LNW87 utilizes 100BASE-X and 1000BASE-X PTM optics. These PTM optics can be ordered and plugged into the LNW87 as their capacity becomes needed.
For the detailed specifications of these optics, see:
The LNW87 uses electrical PTMs that are provisionable to support either 100BASE-T or 1000BASE-T traffic.
For detailed specifications, see 100/1000BASE-T electrical Ethernet specification.
Performance monitoring capabilities are available on the LNW87 circuit packs. A detailed list of monitored parameters can be found in Performance monitoring.
