Use this procedure to install the following OLIU circuit packs in the Main slots:
LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48 very large fabric multiport multirate OLIU with up to eight pluggable transmission modules or without pluggable transmission modules (headless, optics-free, switch applications), 16 DS1 ports and 3 DS3 ports
LNW141 OC192 very large fabric OLIU with one pluggable transmission module or without a pluggable transmission module (headless, optics-free, switch applications)
Important!
The OLIU circuit packs in the Main slots must both have the same optical line rate and VT cross-connect size. If the circuit packs in the Main slots have different optical line rates or VT cross-connect sizes, the system reports an unexpected CP type alarm and service may be impacted.
Important!
The LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48, LNW140 OC3/1.3/IR1 + DS1 and LNW141 OC192 circuit packs are only compatible with the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend Shelf with removable center dividers (DMXTEND-RCD-CE Shelf Type).
To determine the shelf type, select View → Equipment, highlight Shelf, and click Select to obtain the shelf details.
You must log in as a Privileged, General, Maintenance, or Reports Only user to complete this procedure.
In addition to the equipment listed in Required equipment, if loopbacks are to be performed, the following equipment is also required:
Refer to the list of Class 1 SFP/XFP transceivers that are approved by Alcatel-Lucent in Procedure 4-16: Install pluggable transmission modules.
Refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer Extend (DMXtend) Installation Manual, 365-372-327, as required, when removing and/or installing pluggable transmission modules.
A deeper shelf cover (comcode 849064282) is required for shelves equipped with LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48 circuit packs. This shelf cover provides more space to prevent fibers from touching the front cover when the cover is closed.
Important!
Release 4.0 or later software is required to support LNW140 OC3/1.3/IR1 + DS1 circuit packs. If LNW140 OC3/1.3/IR1 + DS1 circuit packs are installed in an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend using pre-Release 4.0 software, equipment failures and equipment protection switching do not operate correctly.
