Use this procedure as reference for provisioning optional system configuration parameters from the System View Configuration menu.
Depending on your requirements, default values may be sufficient for many of the parameters. Other parameters in the Configuration menu are necessary for system and network operation but may not be listed here. They are accessed through various procedures associated with system turn-up, network configuration, and establishing service.
Configuration parameters may consist of one or more of the following:
General system (aid=system), circuit pack, port, and tributary parameters
Cross-connections
Backplane bandwidth optimization
Miscellaneous discretes
DCC terminations
System timing/synchronization functions
System alarm configurations
System software and database functions.
Depending on local procedures, types of configurations, and system equipage, some or none of the optional parameters may need to be provisioned. It is assumed that local system administration is responsible for determining these parameter values.
Some of the parameter values may be provisioned during the initial shelf turn-up. Other parameter values may be provisioned after the system is integrated into the network configuration.
Use the sections in this procedure as reference for provisioning optional system configuration parameters.

Reference the sections in this procedure to provision the required system configuration parameters from your work instructions. Important! Some of the parameters may have already been provisioned from earlier procedures. End of steps |
Refer to the following to provision system, socket, port, and tributary parameters that may apply to the entire system or a circuit pack. Certain individual parameters may be provisioned in other procedures depending on the type of service, system configuration, and/or network configuration.
Configuration → Equipment
Procedure 6-2: Provision system parameters
Chapter 4, Install and provision circuit pack procedures
For other system parameters, including system date and time, NE defaults, Target Identifier (TID)/NE Name, and Login banner, see Chapter 7, System administration procedures.
Use for reference only. Invokes the Cross-Connection Wizard for establishing cross-connections.
Configuration → Cross-Connections
The Cross-Connection Wizard is referenced in other procedures relating to establishing specific services. If you have explicit work instructions and are familiar with the Cross-Connection Wizard, use the Cross-Connection Wizard to establish cross-connections.
Refer to the following to optimize the backplane bandwidth.
Configuration → Optimize Backplane Bandwidth
Procedure 6-8: Optimize backplane bandwidth
Refer to the following to provision miscellaneous discrete environmental inputs and control outputs.
Configuration → Misc. Discretes
Procedure 6-3: Provision miscellaneous discrete inputs and outputs
Refer to the following to provision DCC Terminations.
Configuration → DCC Terminations
Procedure 6-4: Provision DCC terminations
Refer to the following to provision system timing/synchronization functions.
Configuration → Timing/Sync
Procedure 6-5: Network synchronization provisioning
Refer to the following to provision the system alarm-clear delay interval and alarm-generate delay interval.
Configuration → Alarms → Alarm Configuration
Procedure 6-6: Provision system alarm configuration
Refer to the following to update the system database to reflect the current configuration and incoming signals.
Configuration → Update System → Update Inventory
Configuration → Update System → Update States
Configuration → Update System → Update All
These commands are referenced in procedures throughout this guide.
The Ring Upgrade and Normal modes are not supported in this release.
Refer to the following to provision system software and database functions.
Configuration → Software → Remote Backup
Configuration → Software → Remote Restore
Configuration → Software → Configure Auto Backup Interval
Configuration → Software → Copy Software
Configuration → Software → Apply Software
Configuration → Software → Download Software
