Important! The LNW41 OC-48 OLIU, LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48 OLIU, LNW141 OC-192, LNW302 OC-3, and LNW382 OC-12 OLIU circuit packs may be equipped with pluggable transmission modules. However, pluggable transmission modules are not required when LNW84 or LNW141 OLIU circuit packs are used in headless, optics-free, switch applications. If LNW41, LNW84, LNW141, LNW302, or LNW382 OLIU circuit packs are installed in the Main slots, ensure that the required pluggable transmission modules are installed. Verify that all unused sockets are equipped with dust covers. Reference: Procedure 4-2: Install OLIU circuit packs in Main slots
8 |
Are low-speed OLIU circuit packs installed in any Function/Growth slots?
| ||||||
9 |
Note: The LNW421, LNW423, LNW431, LNW433, LNW435, LNW437, LNW443, LNW445, and LNW457 circuit packs are DA'ed and are no longer available. If LNW421–459 OLIU circuit packs are installed in any Function/Growth slots, ensure that the proper box has been checked on the faceplate Channel Select Option Label. To further verify correct settings, the circuit pack must be removed, option jumpers checked, and the circuit pack reinserted. Reference: Procedure 4-3: Install OLIU circuit packs in Function slots
10 |
If LNW37 4OC-3, LNW45 8OC-3, LNW49 4OC-12, LNW55 OC3/OC12/OC48, LNW402 OC-48, and/or LNW62 4OC-48 circuit packs are installed in any Function/Growth slots, ensure that any required pluggable transmission modules have been installed. Verify that all unused sockets are equipped with dust covers. Reference: Procedure 4-3: Install OLIU circuit packs in Function slots
11 |
Important! If the port Signal Type parameter is STNA (Signal Type Not Available) for a port on an LNW55 or LNW84 multirate OLIU circuit pack, then the port is not usable and cannot be tested. Test each usable OLIU port for proper operation, if required.
Repeat this step for all usable OLIU ports being tested, if required.
12 |
If LNW63, LNW64, LNW70, LNW73/73C, LNW74, LNW78, LNW87, and/or LNW170 circuit packs are installed in any Function/Growth slots, ensure that any required pluggable transmission modules have been installed. Verify that all unused sockets are equipped with dust covers. Reference:
13 |
Important! Pre-equipping OMD circuit packs used in DWDM Add/Drop Ring applications with pass-through fiber jumpers minimizes the installation time of pass-through connections when a service is established. Constant travel to pass-through nodes is avoided when a service is added. If two OMD circuit packs are used for a DWDM Add/Drop Ring application, verify that the pass-through jumpers were installed between the Optical Channel (OCH) ports of the OMD circuit packs in the Function/Growth Group.
14 |
If LNW705 XM10G/8 circuit pack is installed in the Growth 2 slot, ensure that any required pluggable transmission modules have been installed. Verify that all unused sockets are equipped with dust covers. The Growth 1 slot must be equipped with a 177D Apparatus Blank or LNW98 Detectable Apparatus Blank. Test IAO LAN ports. From the System View menu, select Fault → Test → IAO LAN. Verify the LAN ports pass the test.
18 |
Important! This procedure assumes that the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend shelf has been connected to the DSX cross-connect panel or equivalent connection point, as required. Perform stand-alone transmission tests in the terminal and/or facility directions, as required, to verify proper circuit pack operation and cabling. Refer any failures to the organization that installed the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend. Reference:
19 |
Important! This step is optional. If the provisionable parameters for the system and installed circuit pack ports have already been provisioned for your application, do not perform this step. This step resets all system provisionable parameters and cross-connections to factory default values. If the system and circuit pack port provisionable parameters have not been provisioned for your application, perform this step to clear the system of any unnecessary settings that may have been made during testing. If required, select Fault → Reset → Initialize System to reset all system provisionable parameters to default values. Result: You will be logged off the system during the controller reset and provisionable parameters will be set to factory default. A flashing b in the IND display on the SYSCTL indicates that a boot is in progress. During the boot, the b may extinguish for up to 20 seconds and then resume flashing. If OLIUs are installed and looped, an inconsistent DCC values alarm is reported after the command is executed and communication is reestablished with the network element. If required, clear any inconsistent DCC values alarms by disabling OSI over DCC for the ports. Select Configuration → DCC Terminations and disable OSI Over DCC for the required DCC ports. The system may also report the holdover mode active condition since the Timing Mode reverts to External. If desired, select Configuration → Timing/Sync and provision the Timing Mode to Free Running. If the sockets on the multirate LNW55 and LNW84 circuit packs are equipped with pluggable transmission modules, the system reports unexpected or failed Pluggable Transmission Module alarms. If desired, select Configuration → Equipment to access the affected ports and provision the port Signal Type parameter the required rate that matches the pluggable transmission module.
